I1MGP6950About Lynn

Born in Africa, into a colourful society that is renowned for its extremes. Where poverty and extreme wealth live side by side, where kindness and compassion exists along with cruelty, where good fortune and misfortune can occur on a single day.

My early years were spent in motherhood and as a business partner in a granite quarrying export business. In 1996 I embarked on an alternate career in Shiatsu therapy, doing my initial diplomas for Zen and Namikoshi Shiatsu in Harare, Zimbabwe.

After emigrating to Australia in 1998, I continued to practice Shiatsu.

I completed the Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies HLT50212  in Melbourne and am a member of the STAA (Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia)

What is Shiatsu Therapy?

Shiatsu is a Japanese body therapy method of correcting Kyo/Jitsu (depleted /excess) imbalances of Ki (Qi) manifesting in the body/mind, Shen. Oriental diagnoses include Tongue, Pulse, Hara (stomach) & verbal /visual communication for diagnosis. These techniques are based ancient Chinese and Japanese knowledge of the meridian and tsubo (pressure point) system. The Yin/Yang concept of continual transformation from one to the other, both carrying the seeds of the other and (Qi) Ki is central to the Japanese/Chinese core of thinking. Ki is an ethereal subtle energy force in an infinite continuous manifestation through all nature whatsoever.

In Shiatsu, the patient is fully clothed (loose and comfortable) and lying on a futon for treatment. For the elderly and sick a massage table can be used.

In accordance to the diagnosis, I use fingers, thumbs, elbows, arms, and feet to apply the correct amount of pressure to the meridian system, and individual or combination tsubos. The main styles I use are Zen, Classical, Barefoot and Sotai, depending on the needs of the individual. Some advice on nurturing eating habits, and correct lifestyle, according to the Five Element system is offered in order to help bring balance to the body/mind.

Gentle, non-invasive, shiatsu can calm the nervous system, stabilize psychological and emotional conditions, improve libido, stamina, the immune system and relieve aches and pains. It creates body awareness.
